New Home Construction
The Hernandez family moved into their new home—owning a new home had been a dream, far from reality. Like many families in rural areas along the South Texas border, this family worked hard. Still, home ownership seemed beyond reach. But, now, they live in a brand new home!
This family invested in their future. They bought an entry level three bedroom, one bath, home from CRG Homes. The home was well-built, the price affordable, and Community Resource Group helped them get a mortgage with payments they could handle. CRG sells this home for 46,000 dollars!
CRG Homes feature:
• insulated concrete form (ICF) construction, making them energy efficient and resistant to fire and weather- related damage, • central air conditioning, • long-lasting ceramic tile floors, • quality, site-built kitchen cabinets, and • exterior finishes.
In 2004, CRG Homes began building quality, affordable to operate, homes in Starr County, Texas. By May of this year, 74 new homes were completed and 16 additional were under constrution, including one sold to the de la Garza family (pictured right).
Our goal is aggressive—next year we will build 60 more new homes, and in five years a total of more than 400!
Like the Hernandez and de la Garza families, many more hardworking families can now do more than dream of becoming homeowners. They can build a promising future for generations to come.

After witnessing firsthand the incredible need for affordable home ownership opportunities near Rio Grande City, Texas, Community Resource Group began a new home construction program. “A place to call home . . .” delivers some of the history, and details, of this effort.
* “Colonias” is a commonly used name for settlements, often lacking basic infrastructure, such as water; wastewater; and electric service, located just outside city boundaries along the U.S.-Mexico border.
