Welcome to the Community Resource Group

Publications

Directing a community water system is a difficult, but very important job. Customers want low rates and good service, but complying with federal and state drinking water regulations may be costly. Often, in rural communities, those responsible for insuring that every resident has safe and affordable water service are volunteers. They may not have all the tools they need to effectively manage their water and wastewater systems. They have other jobs and their time is limited, and yet, every home and business in the community depends upon them for the safety of their water.

In addition to providing training and onsite technical assistance, Community Resource Group (CRG) publishes:
  • The Community Water bulletin – This resource for the decision makers at small water utilities provides practical, useful, information and advice for directors, managers, and other system staff. Since January 1990, the Community Water bulletin has been published and distributed every three weeks. It will be mailed for FREE to decision makers at systems, serving a population of less than 10,000, that are located in CRG's service region (Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas). Click here to subscribe to the print version. Some of the most recent issues are available for downloading as PDF files.
  • Guides for small water and wastewater systems – These references are intended to assist local decision makers working in small, rural communities. Subjects covered range from an overview of the federal Safe Water Drinking Act to guides created to help boards of directors address planning, financing, operating, and other day-to-day decisions.
